So anyway, October 15th…

So anyway, October 15th...

I obliquely mentioned the fact that despite the promise of greener (or at least greener-ish) pastures, I’m not moving to Baltimore this fall. But you know who is? YJP that’s who. Who, BTW, is graduating this friggin weekend (congratulations!) and whose defense of her (awesome and totally not boring, I’m sure) dissertation passed unnoticed on this blog. I had the opportunity to go down this weekend to meet up with her and VC and photograph a last few memorial longhorns of the day (RIP) before she skips Texas but things got expensive and flights got stupid and I lost all my money on the cheese curd futures market and so am here and not there.

Which is a roundabout way of saying, Baltimore, while not being my vocational destination of choice, is still a place I’d like to visit once the young doctor gets settled in. And since two excuses are better than one, I’ve registered for the Baltimore Marathon on October 15th. If you’re interested in running with us, please come on down! They have a half and a 5K if you don’t feel like doing the full. It’s one week after the BAA half, let’s do both! Yes. Good. The summer plan is starting to take form, and I like it.

I was leaving a post-work meeting/celebration thing yesterday and ran into this noise coming down Huntington Ave, right past my office. Pretty exciting, no? Important people (much less the President) don’t often cross my path, interrupting the steadily drizzled drudgery that is commuting home on an over-packed bus. To bring things full circle, the guy I sat next to afterwards absolutely reeked of BO. A study in contrasts.

I had this photo up on Universal Hub over the weekend, after taking pictures at MIT’s FAST LIGHT event. I get unreasonably, irrationally happy about this kind of stuff – it provides much stronger positive feedback than I get in my regular day to day work life. So for fun, I’ll start noting it here when it happens. Here are a few more I’ve had up in the past year or so – Threading the Needle, Demotivators, Team Ghana & Coffee. This one is a little older, but still a favorite for obvious reasons.
