A Saturday in Charlestown

May 6th, 2007 - nathanael · 1 Comment

An overview of the longest day of our ‘this is knot love’ shoot.

Saturday technically started with a long and not terribly productive night with my sister’s party at the Newman House. Andrew Hall of the Harvard Square Scriptwriters sent us two scripts (the second we got around 2am). Some modifications and negotiations on who would play which role went on for a while before I passed out around 3:30.

The main body of the shoot took place in Charlestown starting at 11am or so on and around the Harborwalk. We had originally hoped to shoot some interior scenes at the Tavern on the Water but they were prepping for Cinco de Mayo and had some pier-wide mariachi party. As luck would have it, one of our actors (Shera) knew some people at the Kinsale who were very gracious and tolerant in letting us take over their back room.

The fourth, final phase of the shoot was an interior that was supposed to look like a therapist office. We ended up shooting this tight in my apartment for lack of better space. We had 1000W of lights burning us up, but by some miracle we didn’t blow any fuses or burn down the building. The final wrap was around 8:30pm, about 2 1/2 hours later than we had originally planned.
