I went down to the Chinese New Year Parade tonight to see what there was to see. Supposedly this is one of the top-ten parades in the country (by whoever rates such things) but it was lacking a bit from the pacing perspective (compared, say, to First Night). There were these big gaps in the parade that felt like they were due to commercial time-outs or something. Also, it would have been more fun had one of my not-typically-so-lame friends come along, or if I had some kids or whatever. But still, fun. Even though I didn’t score that camera yesterday I’ve still got this new 50mm lens that I’m just starting to play around with. The thing that’s great about it (F1.8, incredible shallow depth of field) also make it more difficult to deal with in a less controlled situation. Or maybe I just have problems focusing. Either way, I’m still learning how to use it effectively. Here are a few of my shots that were reasonable.

Love the love float. Nice shots!
