All of the windows in my apartment point west and north. This makes for some nice sunsets during the summer but it’s damn dark in here during the long cold winter. And not some kind of blast-em-up action packed like the one good movie Vin Diesel ever made kinda dark. More like the soul sucking vitamin D deficiency creating vampire sustaining kinda dark.
Given that context, this morning was unusual. I stumbled half-awake into the bowels of the deep, dark kitchen and was stunned to find myself squinting into a bright light, mysteriously and unusually happy. The diagram below explains the unexplicable, the miracle of low morning sun bouncing off a window across the street.

The only logical thing to recreate this phenomenon to do is to erect a series of mirrors on the roof of all buildings to my west, allowing for remote controlled adjustable reflection of sunlight into my home TWENTY-FOUR hours a day. I’m totally psyched about this plan.

[...] Mandiberg has the same sunlight problem that I do. Unlike me he’s actively trying to solve it, with both mirrors and sheet metal. [...]
