Shooting outside all day yesterday for the new Echoplanar short (‘this is knot love’) taught me two things. First, I clearly spend too much time inside if one cloudy day in May can cause massive skin damage to my lips. Secondly, Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip Balm is a seriously miraculous product.
Today was much more of an interior day – after starting at 4:30am I don’t think I went outside once (less one short coffee break) until 7:10pm when it was time to head to Lir to submit.
A day of solid editing is both interactive and antisocial – you have to ignore some things (cellphones, pre-Mother’s Day parties, ‘helpful’ suggestions) to get to a coherent point. At the same time, it’s very easy to lose perspective, think what you’re working on is funnier or more interesting than it really is, and it’s extraordinarily helpful to sporadically have fresh eyes take a look at what you’ve done. The hard part is finding that balance while maintaining a strict schedule.
Anyway, despite one nearly catastrophic power outage at 6:45 pm (for which I want to apologize to Z for losing my shit entirely), we were in with five minutes to spare.
