Watching Into the Wild on the same day I bought friggin curtains brings certain obvious internal contradictions to the surface. I guess that’s the point. Freedom is both contextual and elusive for the modern herd.
Additionally, I can’t but help think (tritely, and repeatedly) that it’s too bad he didn’t* have a camera. Observing beauty for the ephemeral moment’s sake vs for posterity. Discuss amongst yourselves.
*Had I waited til the end of the film to write I would have know that he actually did have a camera.

I disliked Into the Wild, SMHB thought it had some value.
i really enjoyed ‘into the wild’, as i’ve mentioned i think. the book is oodles better, but then again, i suppose it is too late to read it now that you’ve seen the movie…
I just saw it now. Damn good flick I say!
Oh yeah, I completely forgot we were Netflix friends and I could stalk your queue. Earth Girls Are Easy?!?
I no longer have cable…what am I going to do with the time I used to watch trashy flicks on TBS?
