I was introduced to the Japanese concept of Kuidaore (????) this weekend. From the definition above you may correct surmise it’s not the healthiest of pursuits, particularly on a weekend of such extreme heat where the temptation of libation leaves one’s judgment clouded. But overall, it was an interesting experience, centering on the consumption of smaller than meal-sized amounts of food at a number of restaurants (Brookline’s Fugakyu, Harvard Square’s Wagamama & the oddly lonely Koreana in Cambridge). I believe the Hong Kong was visited as well though that cannot be confirmed with available evidence. If you’re interested in doing your own Kuidaore tour of Boston my only suggestion is to pace, pace, pace yourself, avoiding all starchy side dishes and pork bellies. Also beware the ethically challenged cabbies of Harvard Square who (2 for 2!) aren’t above looping the block a couple of times to jack up their fares.

Perhaps if I followed the smaller than meal-sized rule…
